Hi folks, today is Friday, March 25 and the United States and other countries of the world has officially released the latest film from Zack Snyder, Sucker Punch, starring a female cast led by Emily Browning. The story was written by Snyder himself in collaboration with Steve Shibuya, who took uos 5 months to do so. Was conceptualized before Watchmen and its realization, Snyder summon the same computer I use in this movie. Sucker Punch, like Watchmen were shot in Vancouver, Canada.
The story revolves around Baby Doll ( Emily Browning), a girl who is locked in an asylum for years 50 by her evil stepfather and who is about to be lobotomized. With fellow Rocket ( Jena Malone), Blondie ( Vanessa Hudgens), Amber ( Jamie Chung) and Sweet Pea (Abbie Cornish ) joins to escape his captors, Blue (Oscar Isaac ), Madam Gorski (Carla Gugino ) and the High Roller ( Jon Hamm). Snyder himself is a sort of Alice in Wonderland with machine guns. In fact in his interviews always clear that this film is an experiment and its first original work, a mixture of ideas, influences and styles that not even know where I could get. Simply I wanted to do a story that combines all your fetishes as a regular on the pop culture.
originally Another curiosity is that the film would be rated R (Restricted) or for adults and due to pressure of censorship, had to cut a love scene between Browning and Hamm, which upset the actress, and she liked the idea that your character is sexually empowering. Finally the scene was removed and the film got the PG-13.
The movie looks interesting and was marketed in a very attractive first with the trailers, and more recently with a series of animated shorts. Likewise the soundtrack is incredible. Let's review a little progress, because unfortunately in Costa Rica who knows when we can see the movie (I'm afraid that if the ticket is not good, I'll have to get in line).

The Sucker Punch
was officially announced at Comic Con 2010 with a video that was subsequently be released on July 27 at Apple Trailers. The video features the songs "Prologue" by Immediate Music and The Crablouse "Lords of Acid. Most of the people was impressed by the premise of an imaginary world that combined several elements of fantasy.
The second trailer is more explicit about the history of film, in which a girl known as Baby Doll and her friends locked in a mental institution, must pass a series of tests in a fantasy world to get 5 items that allow them to escape (a map, knife, fire, locked up and the last item is a mystery) and to support this feature a wise old man. This trailer was released with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows and Black Swan on November 3.

Created by animator Ben Comflix Hibon and studies, this series of 4 short animated films is impressive. Snyder Hibon saw the work of the animated sequence of the story of three brothers in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows and asked her to create these short films to illustrate the different worlds in the universe of Sucker Punch.
The Trenches: tells the story of German soldiers in World War II are artificially revived and returned to the battlefield. Despite that they are now zombies in them is still a vestige of humanity.

Distant Planet: A world divided between rich and poor, the robots decide to revolt against their masters, starting a riot.
Feudal Warriors: Contral by a powerful wizard, an army of demonic samurai roam the world, conquering and destroying temples. When they reach the most important of all faced with Baby Doll and the rest of the girls.
The Soundtrack
The soundtrack of this movie is very good and highly recommended, using mainly covers of several popular songs from artists like The Beatles, Pixies, The Smiths, Eurythmics intepreted by Emily Browning, who worth noting is an excellent voice, along with other artists.

It's no lie that I liked Snyder's previous work, mainly comiqueras 300 and Watchmen, and direct this new project caught my attention with flashy trailers. Top it has a very interesting soundtrack and a series of animated shorts that illustrate a little fantasy world where much of the history of film.
But in spite of all these items please apartir yesterday the movie has been criticized and even destroyed by U.S. criticism and a good group of spectators. What I find most curious is that opinions are highly polarized ... those who love it rave reviews for its visual approach and the fact of risk being original, while people who see it negatively, not to say that hated him from blame a bad script and flat characters to be a whirlwind of genres that getting anywhere. You can see the comments in rotten tomatoes.
And in spite of the bad reviews, STILL WANT TO SEE THE MOVIE ... and the truth is not the first time Snyder has drawn criticism as found with their work, as the same happened with 300 and Watchmen. Like these are the same critics who have missed clunkers like Twilight and Transformers and given from regular to some good scores.
What I wonder and I fed the curiosity about this film is that it makes many people feel so uncomfortable. Lives up to its name, is an unexpected blow to the face of the viewer and apparently enough people came out hurt. Seras the dialogues very cliches (not think they are worse than Twilight), very poor performances (examples abound) or just that the movie is so frantic that trip (if endured Transformers, this has to be an impressive level) or is simply of those films that appear at the wrong time and are rejected (I think the bad reviews of Sergio Leone westerns or the master David Fincher Fight Club at the time).
What I can say is that this film seems to be for hardcore pop junk geeks like me. Has Nazis, samurai, dragons, beautiful girls in schoolgirl uniforms and a story behind based on the search for identity. I'm going to like, but could be wrong ... this can only answer honestly watching the movie.
